About the role
The purpose of this role is to ensure an appropriate level of tax risk management for Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (“CSC”) from a tax compliance and reporting perspective. It is expected that this role is to work with and support the Manager, Group Tax to manage CSC’s tax compliance and reporting matters and to also support the other functions of CSC (including CSC Finance Team, CSC People Team and CSC Customer Innovation & Services Team) and add value to CSC through industry and taxation knowledge that is relevant to CSC’s commercial environment and objectives
Qualifications
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Law, or a related discipline
- Membership (or working towards membership) with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, CPA Australia, or the Tax Institute of Australia
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g. Master’s degree) in a relevant field
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- 0–3 years’ experience in a tax or related professional services environment
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Well-developed organisational and project management capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, solve problems, and provide practical recommendations
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality or accuracy
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on complex tax matters
- Solid technical understanding of the Australian tax system, including companies, trusts, partnerships, and superannuation entities
- Strong foundational accounting knowledge
Desirable
- Experience delivering training or presentations on tax compliance topics
- Ability to identify and advise on Australian and international tax compliance opportunities
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, including Investment Tax and Finance
