Job Description

  • Job title: Team Leader
  • Position Type: Permanent
  • Location: All locations considered – Remote and hybrid work arrangements

About the role:

We’re currently recruiting Team Leaders in our Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Loss team focused on mentoring, coaching and driving continuous improvement. These roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting people, lifting performance and creating positive change.

As part of your cover letter, we encourage you to indicate which position you're most interested in or feel best aligned to your goals. However, please note that all applicants will be considered for both positions based on your skills, experience and potential fit across the broader team.

About the teams:

Loss

Be responsible for leading a dedicated Loss team that supports families, beneficiaries and representatives following the death of a CSC customer. Your primary focus is to provide compassionate leadership and clear direction, ensuring your team delivers sensitive, timely and accurate support to customers during a period of significant vulnerability.

In this role, you will lead and guide the assessment of death‑related claims and entitlements, ensuring decisions are made efficiently, accurately and with appropriate care and empathy. You will collaborate closely with case managers and internal stakeholders to provide a respectful, seamless customer experience, supporting the gathering and evaluation of evidence while upholding CSC’s trustee obligations and commitment to service excellence for grieving families.

ADF Claims

You will lead a dedicated team that supports current and former ADF customers, their families and representatives through the claims process. Your primary focus is to provide guidance, direction and leadership, ensuring work performed by your team is delivering value for our most vulnerable customers. In this role, you will provide strong leadership and direction to ensure claims are assessed efficiently, accurately and with empathy. You will also collaborate closely with case managers to provide exceptional customer service, supporting the gathering and evaluation of health-related evidence as part of the claims process for CSC customers.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role, ideally within a similar environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate, influence and guide a team toward shared goals
  • Ability to foster a positive team culture and drive high levels of engagement and performance
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • A hands-on, proactive approach to leadership, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Experience in setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and feedback
  • Adaptable and resilient in managing change and navigating challenges
  • Experience in generating reports and interpreting data to inform decisions

Why apply?

  • Play a key role in supporting frontline teams and improving the lives of our customers
  • Be a driver of change and work with your manager to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
  • Join a supportive leadership group and the wider CSC network that values collaboration and shared success
  • Build skills in coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, performance management and stakeholder engagement

  • The focus areas and goals you would prioritise in your first 90 days as a Team Leader
  • Your leadership style and key attributes, including how you lead people, foster collaboration and drive outcomes
  • Your preferred role, noting you will be considered for both positions
