About the role
Job title: Compliance Officer / Senior Compliance Officer
Position Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Canberra
In this role, you will be part of the Compliance Team within CSC’s Legal, Risk & Governance function (LRG). LRG provides a broad range of in-house legal, risk, compliance and governance services to CSC’s business areas to enable CSC to operate within its risk appetite and meet its regulatory obligations and fiduciary responsibilities as trustee for Australian Government superannuation schemes.
You will provide high quality, business-focused compliance services to support CSC’s business objectives. You will work proactively and independently, with the support, mentoring and supervision of senior members of the team.
Key responsibilities
Depending on your level of experience, you will undertake, or assist with or support, the following responsibilities:
- review, analysis, escalation and investigation of, and the provision of remediation advice relating to, compliance incidents;
- administration of CSC’s compliance function and systems, including maintenance of the incident and breach register;
- reporting to ASIC, APRA, and AUSTRAC for notifiable incidents and breaches, including drafting breach reports and related documents;
- post-incident reviews for the purpose of identifying root causes and driving continuous improvement in controls and culture;
- compliance monitoring and oversight activities, including assisting with thematic reviews and responses to internal and external auditors;
- oversight of CSC’s compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing laws and policies, including supporting oversight of transaction monitoring, suspicious matter reporting, and AML/CTF implementation and reporting;
- oversight of compliance with the Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles, including assisting in privacy impact assessments for CSC projects and initiatives;
The Compliance Officer / Senior Compliance Officer will work collaboratively with other members of Legal, Risk & Governance, including by working on matters that cross multiple functional areas (such as legal and risk functions), and supporting the provision of holistic services by the team to CSC business units
Specific duties, deliverables and reporting lines may vary from time to time depending on business needs and priorities. Key objectives and measurements will be captured in the Performance & Development planning cycle, established annually and adapted as needed.
What we’re looking for
- 1-3 years’ (for the Compliance Officer) or 4-7 years (for the Senior Compliance Officer) experience in compliance functions relevant to CSC, preferably with exposure to commercial/ superannuation/financial services/corporations law environment
- Experience in resolving compliance issues and developing relevant work practices that will support the delivery of high quality, commercially focused, compliance services
- Ability to proactively manage a varied workload, to prioritise and meet deadlines, and work effectively with other team members to achieve desired business outcomes
- High level of attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Willingness to learn and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to build rapport with stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work under pressure
