About the role
As the Data Governance Manager you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining data governance policies and standards. They will lead initiatives to improve data quality, manage data lifecycle processes, and ensure adherence to regulations such as APRA, ASIC, and GDPR where relevant. The role includes stakeholder engagement, risk management, and mentoring junior team members to support a data-driven culture across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
- Strong familiarity with industry-specific regulatory frameworks such as APRA Prudential Standards, ASIC regulations, Privacy Act, and where applicable, GDPR and other international data privacy laws.
- Proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining data governance frameworks and policies that drive compliance and improve data quality and security.
- Hands-on experience with data governance tools, metadata management, data quality platforms, and business intelligence systems
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, from senior executives to operational teams, fostering collaboration and promoting best practice data governance.
- Leadership experience managing small to medium-sized teams, including coaching, performance management, and professional development
- Strong analytical skills, with expertise in data risk assessment, data quality metrics, and regulatory audit preparation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex data governance concepts into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences.
