The Enterprise Performance Monitoring Specialist is responsible for the development, configuration, and maintenance of application and infrastructure performance monitoring solutions across the organisation. The role provides operational visibility across a mixed technology environment, including both legacy systems and modern, cloud-based platforms.
The incumbent in this position will play a key role in ensuring the stability and performance of business-critical systems by supporting the implementation of proactive monitoring capabilities. They will be required to use Dynatrace and other monitoring tools to support incident response, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Dynatrace and related monitoring tools to ensure comprehensive visibility across systems and applications.
Design and implement monitoring strategies for both legacy platforms (e.g. mainframe, on-premises servers) and new systems (e.g. APIs, cloud infrastructure, containerised services).
Configure dashboards, alerts, and reports aligned with business service levels and operational requirements.
Work collaboratively with infrastructure, development, and support teams to ensure consistent monitoring coverage across environments.
Support incident response activities by providing performance data and insights to assist in fault isolation and resolution.
Perform root cause analysis and trend monitoring to identify recurring performance issues and recommend improvements.
Contribute to system performance optimisation initiatives through analysis and continuous feedback.
Document monitoring configurations, procedures, and knowledge for operational support and onboarding.
Provide training or guidance to relevant technical teams on effective use of monitoring tools.
Specific duties, deliverables and reporting lines may vary from time to time depending on business needs and priorities. Key objectives and measurements will be captured in the Performance & Development planning cycle, established annually and adapted as needed.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you’ll need to excel
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
Vendor certifications in Dynatrace and/or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) preferred
Significant hands-on experience with Dynatrace in an enterprise environment
Strong understanding of application performance monitoring principles
Experience working with both legacy systems and modern architectures (e.g. microservices, hybrid cloud)
Familiarity with key infrastructure technologies (e.g. servers, databases, networks, middleware)
Ability to interpret and present performance data in a clear and actionable manner
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in complex technical environments
Experience with automation or scripting for monitoring tasks (e.g. PowerShell, Python, Bash)
Experience with other monitoring platforms (e.g. AppDynamics, Splunk, Prometheus)
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Knowledge of containerisation platforms (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift)
Understanding of ITIL processes, particularly incident and problem management
